An Excellent Pattern in Following the Ministry
(Written as an appendix to the testimony of the coworkers in the Taiwan Gospel Work)
I have served in close coordination with Brother Wu for almost thirty-five years. An overall view of his service reveals a labor which was not only effective but also of longstanding value. Some might wonder how, as an apparently ordinary person, he could have such a great achievement. The key to this was his firm recognition and close following of the ministry. Brother Witness Lee once said, “If a person is incapable of taking the lead and not willing to follow, he will be useless in the Lord’s recovery.” This speaks of the reason why Brother Wu was so blessed in the Lord’s recovery.
He labored in the stream of the speaking of the ministry of the present age so that the up-to-date speaking of Lord’s servant could reach the entire Chinese-speaking world through his service, even though the Lord did not directly commit him to speak the Word.
He labored in the stream of the work of the Spirit in the present age to carry out the leading of the Lord’s servant so that coworkers from the small island of Taiwan could reach as many as fifty countries in the East and in the West through his service, even though almost none of this work was directly initiated by him.
A person not gifted with the ministry of the Word has greatly propagated the ministry of the Word. A person not being an initiator of the flow of the Spirit has caused the flow of the Spirit to be so mighty.
Brother Wu has set up an excellent and marvelous pattern so that we may well learn to follow the ministry closely, endeavor to be one with the ministry, and be a genuine yoke-fellow with the ministry. May the Lord gain us so that our life and work will have the same long-lasting value which we see in Brother Wu’s life and work, so that we may prepare the way for the Lord’s return. Amen.
